The West Oxfordshire Branch currently has a number of cats who, due to old age or serious long-term health problems, cannot be re-homed and therefore have to remain in the permanent care of one of our more experienced fosterers.

In order to help pay for the up-keep of these cats we have a Sponsorship scheme in place whereby members of the public are able to ‘sponsor’ a cat on a yearly basis. We ask that a minimum donation of £20 is made for a 12 month sponsorship although you are more than welcome to donate more if you would like!

Sponsors receive a signed certificate and photo and receive regular updates on the progress of the cat they have chosen.

Below you will find pictures and information on our current Sponsor Cats.

If you are interested in sponsoring one of these cats, then in the first instance please contact the Branch Co-ordinator on 01993 831350.

ZOOT is a 12/13 yr old affectionate all black male cat, who is totally blind.

He came into our care because his owners were moving house and could not take him. He went to one of our fosterers who could not understand why he kept falling off of the stairs; she did have suspicions that his sight was impaired because one eye was cloudy and a visit to the vets confirmed her suspicions and told her that he in fact was totally blind in both eyes and also has kidney problems for which he is now on medication.

He has since settled into another foster home where he will stay for the rest of his life, and is quite happy and contented.

GORDON is an adorable, long-haired white cat with dark patches and he is somewhere between 7 and 13 years of age. He has one blue eye and one green eye and a corkscrew tail!

When Gordon first came to us he was semi-feral and in very poor condition and was terrified of people. Unfortunately he has some long-term health problems including a condition of his feet that means that his pads are not properly formed and need to be regularly checked, and also a tummy problem which means he has to have a special diet.

Since moving in with his fosterer he has become very friendly and fusses round for kisses and attention. He loves giving and receiving affection and also gets on with the other cats in the household.

AVERIL is a pretty tortoiseshell and white female aged 3 years.

She was found wandering around looking very lost and a kindly gentleman took her in as he was worried about her sitting in the middle of the road, washing, while cars swerved to avoid her! Once he took her home he realised that she was profoundly deaf and then he got in touch with us.

Initially she was very coy and reserved but she has now settled well with one of our fosters and has started sitting on laps and looking for attention. She has also made firm friends with the other cats in the household and her deafness has no affect on her ability to chase around the house!

MACZTA and FELIX are 2yr old brothers who originally came in to our care as kittens who were very poorly with cat flu.

Felix was so bad that, despite treatment, he had to have both of his eyes removed although to watch him run around and play you would be hard-pressed to tell.

Maczta was lucky enough to keep his sight but did suffer a broken leg which he recovered from well.

They are now lovely cats who enjoy family life.

FRANKIE is a 5 year old black male who had a very poor start to life.

As a kitten, Frankie had bladder and kidney problems and was also involved in a serious road traffic accident which left him with a badly broken jaw and a partially severed tongue.

Despite everything, Frankie lives life to the full and his foster-mum says that he just LOVES to eat! He is a gentle and cautious cat and has a lovely home in the countryside with his sister.

My name is TOM, but don’t let that fool you because I am a girl really.

I’ve been looked after by the CP ladies for quite a while now, ever since my owner died last year and there was nobody else who wanted to look after me.

Because I am quite old now (15 I think) and have one or two ongoing problems, I am looking for a long-term foster home where I can live as a sponsor cat. I don’t ask for much more than a warm and comfortable place to sleep, regular food and water, and an occasional tickle behind the ear.

CAN I COME AND LIVE WITH YOU?
Tom
