Volunteers:

Without the dedication and tireless efforts of an army of volunteers, the 260 Cats Protection Branches throughout the UK would not be able to carry out their valuable work. Words cannot express how crucial the work done by these marvellous people is to the Charity as a whole, and as a Branch we are always looking to swell our numbers!

The Cats Protection Branches, ourselves included, are completely self-funding - with the exception of a small annual grant from HQ. This means that we are responsible for raising all of the funds required to allow us to look after the cats in our care.  Quite simply, the more money we raise, the more cats we can help.

We have a fund-raising co-ordinator, who devotes a huge amount of her time to arranging events for us - from finding and booking venues to organising publicity for the events and scheduling helpers to man the stalls! If you would like to help with any aspect of an event then please contact us or check out the Events page.

As well as organising our own events, we also have a fund-raising stall which attends a number of school and village fetes throughout the summer months. If you would like us to attend an event which you are organising or involved with then please contact us.

Our Branch in West Oxfordshire is desperate for more volunteers to join our ranks - could you fit the bill?  If you have no objection to being unpaid, over-worked and frequently harassed then you are already half way there! We can guarantee great satisfaction from having done your bit to assist the sick, injured and unwanted cats in this area.  You are sure to feel a sense of achievement when you witness the happy results of some of the tragic cases that are brought to the charity. For more details of how you can become a volunteer for the West Oxfordshire Branch, please call the Branch
Co-ordinator on 01993 831350 or drop us an email.

Adopt a Cat

The ultimate help you can give is to adopt one of our wonderful cats or kittens to be your companion for the rest of its days.

We have a number of cats and kittens who want nothing more than a loving and permanent home where they will receive lots of care and attention.

For more information about adopting one of our cats or kittens, please click here.

Foster a Cat

We are always in need of dedicated cat lovers who are able to look after cats in their own home for a variable amount of time - anything from a few days to a few months. You must have a spare room where the foster cat can be kept separate from your own cat or cats. Food will be provided by the Branch and any necessary veterinary expenses will be met by the Branch.

For a longer term commitment you could always consider having a pen in your garden. Installation costs and electrical requirements will be met by the Branch.
For more information, contact the Branch Co-ordinator

Sponsor a Cat

We generally have a number of cats living permanently in our care whom we are unable to re-home for various reasons (often old age or ill health)
In order to help meet the costs of looking after these permanent residents we ask members of the public to ‘sponsor’ a cat for a set period of time.
For more information click here.

Donate Goods

We are always happy to accept any of the following items which are in good, clean condition and can be sold on at jumble sales and bazaars.

Bric-a-brac, unwanted gifts, new toiletries, new make-up, jewellery, books, gift boxes, healthy plants, toys, clean clothes.

We can often arrange to collect items from you or you can drop them off with us prior to an event. Due to a shortage of dry storage we are only able to collect jumble a maximum of one month prior to a jumble sale. Please contact us for more information.

We are now also able to accept used Postage stamps. Please try to keep 2-3 cm of envelope around the stamps when you remove them from the envelope. Collect a bundle and then either pass them to one of our representatives at an event or send them to the Branch Co-ordinator.

Donate Crafts

Do you have a talent for making things? We always welcome good quality handmade crafts which we can sell at events. Or why not take a stall of your own and make a contribution based on your takings?

Knitting, sewing, embroidery, soft-toys, decorated glass, picture frames, paintings, jewellery.

Please contact us for more information.

Donate Cakes or Jams

Are you a whizz at making cakes, biscuits or jams? Could you make a few extra for us to sell at our events? Large cakes (fruit or sponge) always sell well at our fetes and bazaars and it is always nice to have small cakes and biscuits for the children to buy or for people to have with their cup of tea!

Please contact us for more information or check our Events page for an event near to you.

Donate Money

Cash donations are always very welcome. If you would like to donate money to the West Oxfordshire Branch then you can print off and complete a donation form and return it to the address shown or if you would prefer to pay by credit or debit card then we now have this facility through PayPal.

Many Cats Protection Branches have benefited from generous contributions from Wills and Legacies.  If you wish to make such an arrangement to benefit this Branch then instructions for any Will or Legacy should clearly specify ‘West Oxfordshire Branch of Cats Protection’

The Branch Treasurer can offer more advice on this if required.

Donate Cat Food

Cat food and litter are always needed and we have a number of special ‘bins’ located at various supermarkets and retail outlets throughout the area where you can leave a few tins or packets of food or even a bag of cat-litter to help the cats in our care.

Litter trays, food dishes, old towels and blankets are also very useful.

For a current list of ‘cat food bin’ locations please click here.

Help at an Event

We always need extra pairs of hands when there are events. To help set up at the beginning of the day, to man a stall throughout the event and to help clear away at the end of the day.

Whether you have a spare hour or a spare day, any help is greatly appreciated.

Please contact us for more information.

Host an Event

Could you hold a coffee-morning in aid of Cats Protection? or maybe a Garden Party in the Summer?  Or perhaps you have a paddock which would be suitable for a Car Bootsale?

If you would like to host an event, however large or small, please contact our Fundraising Co-ordinator for more information.

Invite us to an Event

Are you involved with the organisation of your local village summer fete? Is your child’s school having a summer fair?

The West Oxfordshire Branch has an information stand as well as a stall selling Cats Protection goods which we will happily bring to your event if you would like to invite us!

Please contact our Fundraising Co-ordinator for more information.

Subscribe to the Branch Newsletter

The West Oxfordshire Branch produces a quarterly publication which is full of Branch News and reports, stories and cat information.

Subscription costs £6.00 per year and the Newsletter will be posted to you.

Please print out and complete a copy of the application form and send it to the Branch Co-ordinator.

Gift Aid

We take advantage of the Inland Revenue Gift Aid Scheme whenever possible, so, if you are a tax payer, you can help the cats by completing a Gift Aid form which will increase every £1.00 you give to £1.28.  Please request a form from the Branch Treasurer.  Every penny we raise is important as it is used to maintain the needy cats in our area.

Storage Space

Do you have a secure, weather-proof empty garage, barn, stable or large shed which we could use for storing goods?  We are always looking for storage space throughout the area.

If you can help, please contact the Branch Co-ordinator.

Spread the Word

The simplest thing of all is to talk to your friends and colleagues about the good work done by Cats Protection. Sometimes all of the websites and newspaper articles in the World are still only half as effective as good old fashioned word of mouth - so please let everyone know that we are here.
